Helicopter Lesson Plan for: Airtaxi

Objective: Taxi technique within airport environment.

 

Controls: Cyclic - speed and ground track, Collective - height, Pedals - heading and trim, Throttle - RPM

 

Technique:

  • 1. Altitude approximately 40
  • 2. Operate in correct area of H/V
  • 3. 40/40 for height and speed callouts
  • 4. Only in familiar area
  • 5. Teminate in quick stop

Hazards (solutions):

  • 1. Operating within H/V diagram
  • 2. Striking Object (clear area - left,right,tail)
  • 3. Settling with power (improper deceleration, downwind)

Errors (solutions):

  • 1. Low RPM
  • 2. Failure to maintain height (use reference point)
  • 3. Failure to maintain heading (pedals)
  • 4. Failure to maintain direction (cyclic)
  • 5. Tendency to rush taxi
